Summer Decorating

This sponsored post is brought to you by Mohawk Flooring, but don't let that scare you!
As always, the opinions stated are 100% mine!

Many moons ago, I'd mentioned that I wanted to *maybe* try to convince Mr. Goats to get a new area rug for our living room, but that I didn't think he'd go for it.

(we're ignoring the missing picture frame on the right wall, right? kthanks! ;-) )

He didn't really have a say in the matter.

You see, Mohawk flooring challenged some bloggers to a Colorful Summer Remodel with their SmartStrand area rugs, and I dove right in! And you know what?

Let me take a deep breath before I type this, because I'm still processing it...

I GOT A WHITE AREA RUG!

Did that freak you out?  Let me remind you... I have two kids, two hair-ball projecting cats, a puppy and a messy husband.

Ok, now you can freak.

But I'm surprisingly not worried. Mohawk states that SmartStrand rugs are the only ones with built-in stain and soil resistance (so, unlike other rug products, you won't have to reapply every time you clean it). I'm not going to go into too much detail, but you can read more here (and I urge you to before entering the giveaway at the end of this post!).

Back to the challenge. Colorful summer remodel...

Nautical blues and whites always come to mind when I think of summer. I think of flowy white curtains billowing in the breeze of an open window (because places *other* than the desert have summers where you can open a window without worrying about heat stroke), light and dark blues in the furniture and accents, and a few citrusy shades thrown in.

Yum.

With that (and my gorgeous new white area rug in mind) I dreamed up this summery mood board.

The blue background is my living room wall color, and the rest of the items pictured are from the following locations.

All throw pillows are from Pop O' Color etsy shop.
Edgewood Coffee Table from Crate & Barrel.
Tabletop tray from CB2.
Lantern from Pier1.
White cylinder pillar from Target.
Ribba picture frames from IKEA.
Area rug is Tender Tradition in Billowing Cloud from Mohawk Flooring.
Starfish can be bought from Walmart, Target or Pottery Barn. They're everywhere right now.

Does that scream summer to you? I would love more yellow/orange touches, but those could be anything from thrifted treasures to family heirlooms. I'm not exactly on the best terms with spray paint, but there's nothing saying that *something* won't be spray painted...

But the rug?

It's better than walking on a lush towel. I really can't describe how soft it is, but even Mr. Goats said he likes it (trust me, that's saying something!).

Does that not look like heaven between your toes..?

  2. I am doing some summer redecorating too! And I am looking into nice, plush shaggy rugs. I am all about having a nice rug that is also soft and comfortable!
