Faux Exciting!

WOOOO HOOOO! Happy Monday!!

Woooaaaaah, sorry. I'll tone it down. I really am that excited, though!!!

Wanna see why?

I DON'T HAVE PUSTULE ROCKS ON MY HALLOWEEN COLUMNS!!!

So I know you're just dying to see the before again, right? (yes, I'm totally putting you through this again)

Grody!

I don't know how I let myself display those last year.

Anyhow, we went through how I removed the pustules and created a faux brick-like rock texture here. I'm not ecstatic with how the painting turned out, but it is much better than it was last year, so I'll take it! I just primed the whole base and attacked each rock individually with one of three colors. I debated making them "dirty" with some very diluted brown paint, but after trying it on one side, I just didn't like it.

I did take some white and black spray paint and accentuate the peaks in the texture, though.

To do that, you very lightly mist the column with white spray paint, spraying almost straight down so that you only get the tops of the textured areas. Then go almost straight up with the black, getting only the bottoms. That dramatizes the shadows/highlights of the texture.

Maybe after I add this, it'll look more "complete"?

In the first picture, you can also see that I created "caps" for the columns, on which I plan to create the arch mentioned here. I've also got a large coffin mostly built, and I think that'll be what I reveal to you next!

Who else is working on Halloween/Holiday projects?!
